Arabic on the Nile -
Intensive courses in Cairo
The fastest way to learn and master Arabic is to
study it in one of the Arab countries. We have chosen Cairo, the biggest African city, as
location for teaching Arabic courses on the banks of the Nile. While studying Arabic in
Cairo the student can utilize what he/she learns in the classroom in daily life. The
limited number of lessons of this intensive way of study is more efficient for the

Methods of teaching Arabic as a foreign
Language
The ALC is one of the pioneer Foreign Language
Centers to apply the Communicative Start-Up Method in teaching Arabic as a
foreign language. We use the most up-to date technological methods of teaching. The core
interest for the ALC is to practice Arabic in conversation and to analyze all its
components regarding grammar, syntax, phonetics and vocabulary. In the lessons we use
various authentic and modern texts besides discussions and role-play to teach the
language. Most important in the teaching/learning process is the efficient and active
participation of the student and not the passive absorption of the linguistic structures.

After the daily
Arabic classes, you will have enough time to get acquainted with
the country and its people. This gives you the chance to apply
the language in practice. You can, for instance, visit the Opera
and enjoy Arabic or Western music in concerts or you can go to
the cinema or theatre. On weekend’s short trips to Sinai,
Alexandria or Suez are an interesting change. Please ask for
information in the administration office of the school in Cairo.
